Details CLAUGHTON SD 54 SW 8/53 Cross - GV II Cross base, medieval, with shaft added in 1920. Sandstone. Base an irreqular boulder with rectangular socket which holds a tapering shaft . The cross head is decorated with interlace ornament. An inscribed brass plate is attached to the base; 'This wayside cross was restored by William Fitzherbert-Brockholes in A.D. 1920 in memory of his two sons Thomas and Roger and all from Claughton who gave their lives for their country in the Great War.' Listing NGR: SD5250943070 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 2 February 2017.
