Background

History

Construction of the church began in 1871, with stone being laid on 11 June 1889. The church was completed in 1891. Consecration occurred on 24 October 1891. St Michael's Church and its presbytery was Grade II* listed on 17 December 1971, and the walls, railings, and gates Grade II listed on 30 March 1987.
