Predominantly harl pointed sandstone rubble; render repairs in part; sandstone ashlar dressings. Regularly spaced raised ashlar voussoirs beneath continuous round arched bands; prominent corbels beneath surmounting parapets (balustraded at centre). Approach walls stepped out to N and S; circular-plan terminating piers with circular caps. Mid to late 19th century iron gatepiers and gate to N. — Compare the raised voussoirs at Old Ancrum Bridge (1782, Elliot or Stevens) and the terminal piers at Mouth Bridge (possibly Stevens, circa 1790). Originally formed part of the main approach to Carolside House - itself dating from the late 18th century (see separate list entry).
