Details SK38NE 784-1/6/179 SHEFFIELD CITY ROAD (East side (off)) Belgian War Memorial at City Road Cemetery GV II War memorial. c1920. Ashlar with slate panels. Tapered octagonal cross shaft with panelled sides and fleurons, topped with a crucifix set in a quatrefoil. Unequal-sided octagonal pedestal with inscribed Westmorland slate panels on the 4 larger sides. Square base set in a square of paving, surrounded by a kerb. The memorial commemorates Belgian soldiers and refugees who died in Sheffield during the First World War. Listing NGR: SK3754886228 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 31 January 2017.
