Details BEAFORD/MERTON SS 51 NW 11/3 Beaford Bridge GV II Bridge. Probably mid C19. Roughly squared sandstone with some ashlar dressings. Parapets with rounded granite copings. Slightly cambered, over three segmental arches with ashlar voussoirs. Battered piers with triangular cutwaters, and battered abutments. Each parapet has flat string course and rounded coping, and curves out over wider abutments at the approaches. The bridge carried the Beaford-Merton road over the River Torridge, which forms the parish boundary at this point. This entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 8 February 2016.
