Category B Date Added 03/08/1971 Local Authority Dumfries And Galloway Planning Authority Dumfries And Galloway Parish Penpont NGR NX 80483 98144 Coordinates 280483, 598144 — Probably circa 1760. Roadbridge, 2 segmental arches over Scaur Water. Rubble-built, droved red ashlar dressings and parapet coping. Pointed central cutwater either side; parapets splayed at approaches square terminal piers with pyramidal caps at north approach. Re-pointed and upper part rebuilt 1984. — On 6.5.1750, Commissioners of Supply were informed that the bridge over Scaur at Arkland had been carried away "harvest last" (D1/1/6 p6)
