Oxford's 39 historic colleges, the Bodleian Library and the Ashmolean Museum together form Britain's oldest centre of higher learning. Visitors can tour several colleges (Christ Church, Magdalen, New College, Trinity) when not in academic use. The Ashmolean — the world's first university museum — is free and rewards a half-day.
