Britain's model villages

From Bekonscot's frozen 1930s to Babbacombe's seaside Lilliput — eight villages in miniature.

The model village is a peculiarly British institution. The oldest, Bekonscot, opened in 1929; the form has spread across the country since, usually combined with a model railway and an ice cream stand. Eight worth visiting, listed roughly by quality.
