Buildings designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor
Nicholas Hawksmoor (1661–1736) was Wren's assistant who became the dark, brooding genius of English Baroque. His six "Hawksmoor churches" in London — Christ Church Spitalfields, St Anne Limehouse, St George-in-the-East, St Mary Woolnoth, St George Bloomsbury, St Alfege Greenwich — are some of the strangest and most powerful churches in Britain.
